I guess it's less that it hurts really bad, and more that the pain is just...lasting? Like, it's not a really deep cut, so it shouldn't still be hurting a few hours later.

Honestly, I have no idea how humans do things like this on a regular basis; they break or tear so easily, and then it takes so long to heal up - it's more than a little inconvenient, isn't it?

Yeah, it...can be pretty annoying.

[He isn't even going to argue that, humans kindof suck in that way.]

Just be glad you didn't break a bone or something. Those take even longer.

...Don't those take weeks, or something ridiculous like that?

Usually. Sometimes six or eight weeks, depending on how bad it is. By then it's closer to being a few months than a few weeks.

...Personally, I have no idea how you could stand something like that. We can recover within a few days at the longest, and that's if our bodies are half-broken; some injuries are more difficult to handle than others, of course, but the basic principle remains the same.

I was alarmed by it when I first arrived here, the fact that injuries don't heal up like they should; I was dealing with something that required medical attention within the first week, it was hideous. It's something I've gotten used to, a bit, but the reminders are always unpleasant.

Humans are...really resilient that way. I've read stories where people have been impaled and somehow survived, even after spending months in intensive care. Or even people who have had things lodged in their brains and didn't even realize it until they went in for x-rays after complaining about headaches.

That thing that attacked you didn't get you too badly either, did it?

It didn't, no - if anything, the entire incident was more startling than truly painful. It's as you said, though, the sting is...lingering in ways that I'm not altogether sure that it should.

That's the only thing that's really bothering me. I think I might check back with Nurse Joy if it's still hurting in a couple days, but I don't think there's much else she could do.

[After all, Pokemon Centers are...exactly that, Pokemon Centers. They aren't very equipped for taking vast numbers of injured people, like they suddenly are right now.]

That would probably be prudent, yes - whether she can do something about it or not, maybe she'll have some sort of idea as to what's wrong with it? Given how humans and Pokémon coexist so closely here, I wouldn't be surprised if she's seen something similar before; perhaps it's like that sort of infection people can get after they've been scratched by cats.

It's possible...it wouldn't be good if it were something like that, but it would probably be treatable.

[Even worse if it's something like...rabies. Don't animals act oddly docile at first when they have rabies, though? ...could Pokemon even have rabies?]

I guess the question now is whether these things are going to stick around or not.

...It wouldn't be the first time. Apparently this sort of thing was happening when I first arrived in Johto - there were a lot of new species all of a sudden, and they're obviously still here.

They weren't all agitated like this though, right?

They weren't, no - that's why I'm concerned this time around.

...there was something else I noticed, when that second thing attacked us. It was strong, but it responded to some attacks. Chie-san's Raichu was able to paralyze it to keep it from chasing us, but Poison Sting didn't do anything at all. It makes me wonder if it was some kind of type that we can't identify.

I guess it doesn't matter much now, but it's still...strange.

Was it a Steel or Poison type, do you think...? I'm fairly sure those are immune...

Chie-san mentioned that it looked like a steel Tentacruel. It could have been both, in that case.

...Honestly, while the instinctive response to that is "See, there you go, that explains it," I believe that just begs more questions than it answers.

Much like this entire situation, to be fair.

I agree with you there...I'm not sure if an explanation for these things would even make them less unnerving.
