[ Chie didn't want to send her owl out in the rainstorm which is why this is a little later than intended, but since Tsukiyama mentioned in that post about how those weekends leave him melancholy she decided to do something nice for him - which is why the Noctowl is carrying a package containing the copy of The Hanged Man's MacGuffin she got from Jirachi. ]

[ It's stupid o'clock in the morning. Chie could've fallen asleep listening to the steady patter of rain against the window and the distant rumble of thunder, but she's not terribly interested in going to bed at a reasonable hour like a responsible adult.

Instead she watches a few episodes of Unova's Next Top Model with her Golett (who adores the show and she cannot figure out why) until she decides she's had enough shitty shows for tonight and picks up her PokéGear. It's been a while since she last bothered her cannibal bestie, and now is totally a good time to call him. ]

Tsukiyama-kun, are you awake?

[It takes him a little while to respond, but that's more due to a few moments of "...dammit where did I last set the phone down" than anything else; it certainly seems that she didn't wake him up from anything, though, given that he's coherent when he answers and his hair isn't a mess, even if he has decided that it's Casual Wednesday around the house today given that whatever he's wearing is loose-collared and decidedly less tailored than the usual.]

[After a whole ten days of non-stop rain, Kaneki had gotten used to the fact that the weather was just destined to be bad this month. First the heat, now the rain...but what he wasn't expecting was waking up to a room feeling like the inside of a freezer. And since you can't really sleep until you've gotten to the source of an issue like that, it didn't take him long to figure out why. He shouldn't have been surprised, really, but...snow? In August?

Now he can't hope to sleep again, effectively stuck in his room under as many covers as he can get his hands on to try and keep warm. It's the kind of situation that's so bizarre that you can't really just sit there without the urge to tell someone about it. He spends some time going through the recent contacts on his Gear until he remembers a conversation he had with Chie over the weekend. It had been a while since he'd spoken to Tsukiyama, hadn't it...

After a minute of deliberation, Tsukiyama will get a ping to his Gear. It's not stupid o'clock right now, thankfully, but the sun has just started to rise properly. Not that it can be seen as cloudy as it is, right now.]

Good morning, Tsukiyama-san. Sorry if I'm waking you up, since I know it's still early. But...I don't know if you've looked yet, but it's...snowing. It's actually snowing outside, right now. It got so cold in my room that it woke me up.

Maybe some Pokemon are causing it? Things have been showing up all month, so I guess this shouldn't be too surprising. I've still never seen anything like it though.

[He pauses there for a second, wondering if he should say anything else. He already feels like he's rambling but he never really knows what to say, exactly, so he makes himself continue.]

Chie-san told me that you and her visited the ruins recently. It's a good thing you did before now, or else you might have been caught in the snow.

[He doesn't feel the need to mention that he's here, too. He's sure that Tsukiyama knows, and there's really no point in bringing it up, is there?]

Anyway...I hope you've been doing okay.

[He realizes in hindsight that it might be a little awkward to just leave it at that, but he's not sure what else he could have said. Kaneki eventually settles with that much for Tsukiyama to see whenever he's awake.]

[...Ah.

Well, that's unexpected but it's not unwelcome, really; Tsukiyama's been in a decent mood lately and Violet has been a new experience, if a bit of a dull one - really, he's just been waiting for the storms to pass to attempt to get back to Goldenrod, but in the meantime there's been a badge to get and things to look at and...well, lots of sheep to avoid...

That said, Kaneki isn't the only one to notice that it's cold as hell this morning; he hadn't expected to suddenly need the heat on in this godforsaken inn, and it doesn't take him very long to figure out why, even if he does spend a good long while just watching bits of white falling in patches in utter goddamn consternation because fucking really.

Nice to see the weather hasn't stopped conspiring against him over the last eleven and a half months, he supposes...

But the cold just means it's good weather for coffee, and he's already well awake by the time the ping to his gear comes in, and it's good to read it, really, and the ending...it's awkward, but it's charming in its own way.]

Good morning, Kaneki-kun! No, no, I've been up for a while now; the sudden temperature shift got me too, it seems...

I've been doing well enough, though. I certainly can't complain about much but the weather, and if that's the most of my problems, then I'm doing well, I'd say. Hopefully you've been all right as well...?

[It's getting late when Naki calls Tsukiyama, but thankfully he's not calling at godawful o'clock at night. The video opens to the bedroom in that house and it looks like Naki's spent the last week decorating. The bed is impressively large and neatly made, surprisingly, and from what can be seen of the room in the shot it looks like Naki has spared no expense to furnish this place. It looks really good considering that Naki was the person behind all this.

(He probably just stole the ideas from magazines or something.)

He's currently sitting on the bed and he's back in the usual white suit with entirely too much eyeshadow on. It looks like he's drawing or writing something in a notebook and he keeps his eyes on that while he leaves his message.]

Hey, Tsukiyama. Call me back when you get a chance. I've got some shit I wanna talk about and it's probably not gonna be pleasant. I'm not mad or anything just... thinking about shit. I get it if you don't wanna talk about that sorta thing though. But if you don't call me back within like, a day, then I'm sending out the fucking search party!

[The last part is obviously meant to be a joke and he smirks a little.]

So... yeah. Call me back soon.

[The call Naki gets back is almost immediate; Tsukiyama was awake and...honestly, he's going to be awake for a while, given that he spent the better part of yesterday completely hungover and therefore asleep - bluntly put he's been dealing with snowstorms in the booze capitol of Johto, and as such he spent the first half of the week downing, like...just a heroic amount of wine.

(Coffee, he'd discovered, was not a sufficient hangover cure; all that did was make him wide-awake and drunk, and good lord he's never doing that again.)

But for now he's functional again and he slept entirely too much yesterday, and he's not entirely sure what he should think of that message but it definitely doesn't take him long to return it.

He's flopped idly on the bed, lying on his back and holding the gear up above him and so there's a spectacular view of the inn's duvet serving as a backdrop; thankfully the...nine feet of snake he's got draped across his waist and effectively pinning him to the bed for the time being is out of the shot, um.]

Ah, monsieur, it's good to hear from you! No search party necessary today, fortunately enough - it's entirely too cold for that.

[It's a little bit later in the evening at the moment, but by now Kaneki's reached a point where he feels...marginally less awkward about texting Tsukiyama like this. It isn't just small talk this time, at least.]

I don't know if Chie-san has talked to you yet or anything, but...have you seen anything strange outside today?

[Tsukiyama's response is prompt, as it almost always is with regards to Kaneki; he isn't sitting by the device pining, exactly, but due to...reasons he's not really doing too much at the moment.]

Outside of the abomination that saw fit to gore me earlier, you mean?

[...Reasons like that, um. Seriously, he has no idea what that thing's damage was.]

It was a minor incursion, thankfully, but still not my idea of a grand time.

[ It started with Chie's injured arm itching and her eyes looking more red than brown in the morning, but she didn't think much of it at the time and simply decided to go outside to take pictures of rocks like she usually does -- something that soon became difficult to accomplish as her hands changed and made it harder to operate a camera properly.

And then a set of massive steel jaws unfurls from her back, the sudden weight causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground. Chie makes a few attempts at standing up and walking with the new addition to her body, but they all end with her toppling over after a few moments.

With a sigh, she reaches for her Pokégear to text Tsukiyama. ]

However, she's not the only one dealing with odd physical changes - to put it gently - it's just that his are decidedly more pleasant; namely, he is warm as hell and he has entirely too much tactile stimulation to be healthy right now, but holy shit there's a lot of fluff and it's so soft and - ]

I can see where that might be posing a problem.
